Been looking for a good way to use this old building I made in Bryce a while back.

Ooo! Cool! And not just cause you found a very neat use for my canvas, which you did :D

I really like the interior setting. it does manage to look like a half machine, half living space alien building.
Very nice work. Is it the interior of a boleaon cube?
Damn, I cannot figure how you pulled this one off:confused:

thank you! it was fun to do - though the lighting i had a hard time with - i am emailing you the scene so you can sort of see what i did.

'No,' I answer, 'it happened once before, the Dark Ages came and they lasted for more than five hundred years.'

Coolness. I am real curious, It might come in very handy to know how to do interiors. Especially if I can terrain map accuratly in CorelDraw. that will remove the redo element nicely. ;)

ahhhhhh youre there - did you get my note? thanks - the interior was done in the terrain editor in bryce, its cool to spend a while there and play with things :D

theres a few terrain editors i found, just trying them out to see which ones are decent, sometimes some terrains ome out too jagged in bryce, you can change the resolution if you need to in TE with the grid with the little squares, but i tend not to mess with that. not that you would need that anyway with the terrains i have seen so far of yours. lattice is a little different to terrains, if you do something too smooth in lattice it comes up as two identical terrains without joins, that used to make me grrrrr++++ - its okay if youre doing a couple of identical walls side by side though, so that might be the effect youre after.

Yeah, I noticed that about Latice. I made the actual Blackish part of the city as a latice and it Duped it Up n Down... Stupid function for a default. So I just buried the unwanted part in the ground ;)

I actually did play with the rez in TE to get the older, stone part of the city. Started out low rez and just kept turning it up as I painted it. worked okay. to much trial n error though. So I am going to use Corel and make my maps out of vector shapes in greyscale, then save em as jpegs n use them to make buildings n cities. far more ablility to used gradiants and cut n paste and mirroring that way. plus sharper, more controlled terrain and such. If you have a vector program I highly suggest making your floors n walls, heck, anything that can be extruded really, that way.

Your could make typed out Plaques for scenes, or forms for large scale models like buildings. Etc;
The only downside is it has to start big and grade down. No vertical bulges or such. But this method will take the randomness out of your terrains and buildings and put YOU in control of the creating again ;)

Had a family issue come up today and was not able to get to my computer until now. So I will be trying it out tomorrow, assuming I have peace for a day :D

Take care amiga!

Robert
